The scale may be misleading you. With the possible exceptions of Mars and Mercury the planetary orbits are so close to being circles that on any reasonable scale you can't tell the difference. You might check with the Lakeview Planetarium in Peoria, IL, which has the world's largest scale model of the Solar System.
